Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a potent antioxidant and free radical scavenger that helps:

  • regenerate vitamin C and vitamin E
  • restore levels of intracellular glutathione (important antioxidant that declines with age)
  • increase excretion of toxic heavy metals such as mercury

However, ALAs most interesting property may be its ability to counter high sugar levels.*39-42

ALA has also been shown to support healthy insulin sensitivity and help promote healthy sugar levels within a normal range;, largely through improving measures of oxidative stress and healthy inflammatory response.*43-48

Personally, I believe one of ALA's biggest benefits for long-term health is it's ability to reduce beta cell destruction, enhancing glucose uptake, and its antioxidant effects.*49

IMPORTANT NOTE: There are TWO types of Alpha Lipoic. If you're taking a typical alpha lipoic acid supplement, you're likely only getting half the benefit of natural lipoic acid. The reason for this is that most alpha lipoic acid products on the market have both forms: the S form, and the R form.

R-lipoic acid is much more potent (2-3 times or more) than commonly sold alpha lipoic acid, which contains both the R and S forms. The S form is chemically the mirror image of the R form and cannot be used by the body, hence it is useless. Additionally, the typical ALA tends to cause acid reflux and heart burn in many users.*

Blood Sugar Optimizer™ uses the correct and more potent "R" Alpha Lipoic Acid, which also is safer for digestion.

Additionally, Blood Sugar Optimizer™ contains BioEnhanced Na-R-ALA, the sodium salt of R-Lipoic acid (RLA). Unlike pure RLA, BioEnhanced Na-R-ALA is a stabilized form of R-ALA that won't degrade at high temperatures, is more bioavailable than regular RLA and has no solvent residues.

Out of 50 natural ingredients tested, this popular spice was far and away one of the best for promoting healthy glucose metabolism.*28

It works because of Hydroxychalcone, the active ingredient in cinnamon, which boosts the effect of insulin by increasing its sensitivity to glucose and facilitating delivery into the cells where it can be stored and synthesized.*

Additionally, certain compounds in cinnamon inhibit an enzyme that inactivates insulin receptors, further improving cell's ability to utilize circulating glucose.*

Here are 5 primary ways it can help 28, 50-53:

  1. Cinnamon can increase glucose metabolism about 20-fold, which significantly improves healthy sugar regulation.*
  2. Cinnamon has been found to have "insulin-like effects" due to a bioactive compound, qualifying it as a candidate for an insulin substitute.*
  3. Cinnamon slows the emptying of your stomach to reduce sharp rises in sugar levels following meals, and improves the effectiveness, or sensitivity, of insulin.*
  4. Cinnamon actually enhances your antioxidant defenses.* A study published in 2009 stated, "Polyphenols from cinnamon could be of special interest in people who are overweight with impaired fasting glucose since they might act as both insulin sensitizers and antioxidants."*
  5. A bioflavonoid found in cinnamon called proanthocyanidin, may alter the insulin-signaling activity in your fat cells and thus, help reduce belly fat.*

Unfortunately, the problem with Cinnamon is that in order for it to work, you need a very high dosage of the powder - at least 2500-5000 mgs, and preferably 10,000 mgs daily.

To remedy this problem, we've used two, clinically researched extract forms: Cinnulin PF®54 and CinSulin®55-57. And we're using the optimal, clinically researched dose of 500 mgs of each (2 servings daily), yielding over 10,000 mgs of cinnamon powder. It's potent, clinically researched and it works!54-57

IMPORTANT NOTE: If taking raw cinnamon powder (which is found in most supplements), you'll need at least 1-2 teaspoons a day or 2000-4000 mgs, preferably TWICE that dose.

Bitter melon is a vegetable cultivated and eaten in many parts of the world, including India, Asia, Africa and South America.

Bitter melon contains several chemical ingredients, including the glycosides momordin and charantin. Polypeptide P, charantin and vicine are the specific components thought to promote healthy glucose levels within the normal range.*

Studies suggest that Bitter Melon may play a role in controlling the production of insulin by the body, thus promoting healthy sugar control.*

Some of the documented studies show Bitter Melon to enhance cells' uptake of glucose, to promote insulin release, and to make the effect of insulin more potent.*58-61

Nicknamed the "sugar destroyer", Gymnema sylvestre has been used safely by people in India for 5,000 years. Many human studies have shown it promote healthy sugar levels within a normal, youthful range.*31, 62-63

As an added bonus, it's used to reduce the absorption of glucose into the body, and also helps decrease sugar cravings,31, 62-63 both of which are desirable for those wishing to lose fat and to reduce the level of sugar in their blood.*30

IMPORTANT NOTE: Most studies showing positive results were done so with the extract version, at 75% Bymnemic Acids, at 400 mgs daily - which is the correct form and dosage found in Blood Sugar Optimizer™

Fenugreek is effective for promoting lowering postprandial (after meals) sugar levels to a healthy, normal range.*

Fenugreek seeds contain a peculiar amino acid not found in any mammal tissues, 4-hydroxyisoleucine, which is believed to boost insulin production by stimulation of the beta cells of the pancreas, which secretes insulin.

Furthermore, chemical agents within fenugreek increase the activity of enzymes that lower glucose concentration both by (1) increasing glucose breakdown and (2) directing more glucose into glycogen reserves.*64-66

IMPORTANT NOTE: If taking the "powdered" or "seed" form, then you will need to take a minimum of 2500 mgs (up to 10 grams) daily to see glucose benefits - which is a LOT.

Thus, always take the extract form only, at a 4:1 ratio - which is highly concentrated.

Additionally, what matters is the Saponins concentrations, which is the active ingredient. Ours is the highest available at 50% extract.

A 2014 review and meta-analysis of 16 research studies looked at those that used randomized, controlled groups for 30 days or more. They found that ginseng (Panax ginseng) promoted healthy fasting glucose levels to a normal, youthful range - when compared to the control group.*32,68,69

IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure to always use the exact form, not the inactive and dead "root". That's why we use 8% ginsenosides extract.

Trans-resveratrol (more potent than regular Reseveratrol) has many health and longevity benefits. One of them being the promotion of healthy fasting plasma glucose levels within a normal, healthy range.*33

In one 4-week study at only 10 mgs daily, resveratrol "significantly decreased insulin resistance".*70

In a study with subjects aged 65+, showed "a significant suppression of the peak glucose level and overall exposure to glucose in serum after meal ingestion".*71

IMPORTANT NOTE: Most Resveratrol is at 20%-50%, so you need a much higher dosage. We use the maximum 90% exact, thus less is needed for better effects.
